The with a beautiful environment and a variety of game species the Mangetti National Park is one of the new attractions in the Kavango Region. The park aims to benefit local communities by utilizing the areas natural resources for sustainable tourism. The Mangetti National Park was a game camp that bred rare and endangered species. Especially the black and white rhino populations were supported in this sanctuary. In 2008 the area claimed national park status and now offers excellent game viewing in a scenic 420 km territory. Wildlife in the park includes eland, blue wildebeest, impala, gemsbok, kudu, giraffe and Burchell’s zebra. Visitors to the park also have the chance to see predators such as leopard and hyena as well as the endangered African wild dog. Mangetti National Park is situated 100 km from Rundu and is part of the recently proclaimed Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area.
